Bethan Maddocks is an artist who works with archives, communities and organisations to collect stories and make socially engaged, site-specific artwork.

Often working with light, paper, fabric and found objects she creates interactive, tactile sculpture and installations. Narratives gathered through conversation and collaborative making are constructed into playful artwork which explore the relationship between storytelling, community and immersive installation.

She works regularly with BALTIC centre of contemporary art and Museums Northumberland delivering diverse art workshops to members of the public that explire paperr, sculpture, social history and identity. She has exhibited with organisations such as Chatsworth House, Northumberland National Park and The National Trust and at light festivals such as Lumiere, Durham and Nightfall, Middlesbrough. She is the 2019 winner of The Dover Prize, as well as shortlisted for North East Culture Awards- Visual Artist of the Year in 2022.
