Empowering Voices: The Women of Rotherham Project

Empowering Voices: The Women of Rotherham Project

Women of Rotherham was a project designed to engage women in the build-up to the WOW festival in Rotherham. We commissioned artist Emma Wilson to work with 9 different groups using photography, design and print to create site dressing for the festival.

It was a really successful project reaching 124 women in the workshops alone. The age groups ranged from 8-80 and lots of the participants went on to attend the festival and see the fruits of their labour! The project focused on how we see ourselves in our communities and how powerful we are when we come together.

"We had such a good time on Thursday, all the ladies enjoyed themselves. Emma was lovely and she is welcome back anytime. We are organising a group trip to the Sunday WOW day. It sounds like it’s going to be fabulous and we are all a bit giddy being involved 😀 Thank you for arranging it, we appreciate your input! " S64 Women supporting Women group.
