Wath Woods Sketching Walk

Come along on this friendly circular walk in Wath’s ancient woodland. All materials, paper, pencils and guidance will all be provided! Welcome to ages 8+ and all abilities. Under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult.

Join Flux Rotherham with artist Rachel Lewis for a relaxing and inspiring outdoor activity as we venture into the beauty of Wath’s ancient Woodland for some light sketching.

Immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and textures of the forest as you unleash your creativity on paper. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just starting out, this activity is perfect for nature lovers and art enthusiasts alike.

Come solo for a peaceful retreat or bring along friends and family for a fun and memorable outing. All skill levels are welcome!

Start and End: Meet at the top of Wathwood Hospital drive, Gipsy Green Lane, Wath-upon-Dearne, Rotherham S63 7TQ. Meet at the Public Footpath sign by the speed bump.

Directions: Turn into Quarry Hill Road off Sandygate A633 opposite Saint Pius X Catholic High School. After 100 yards at the Best One convenience store, turn left into Gipsy Green Lane. Continue straight on over the small speed bump.

Parking: Lots of free parking on the drive leading down to the hospital

What to bring: A folding seat, a drink and snack as required. Wear sturdy footwear, or footwear suitable for a walk in the woods where we might pass uneven or wet ground. Clothing to suit the weather.

Terrain: Uneven ground with exposed roots on and undulating site.

How long will it take? Approximately 2 hours
