In this workshop, led by textile artist Elnaz Yazdani, you will learn a range of hand stitching techniques for Shisha mirror work, using both flat circular and square mirrors. Shish or mirror work is a type of embroidery which attaches small pieces of mirrors or reflective metal onto fabric. Shisha embroidery is common throughout Asia, and it can be found in many traditional embroideries from India, Afghanistan, China and Indonesia. The type of embroidery techniques used lend themselves well to clothing, hangings, tapestries, and domestic textiles.
