Karen Mulcahey

I am a professional theatre director, writer, singer-songwriter, performer and dramaturg of over 27 years experience across the UK and beyond. I have been settled in Rotherham for over 20 years and have worked in mainstream FE/HE as Programme Leader for level 1-6 and part time drama practitioner and singer. I have worked with almost every community and age group using drama and music to develop skills and projects and been commissioned to write plays and the Rotherham Musical 'Pioneer' and to direct. I have just been commissioned to direct a show at Edinburgh Fringe and was a lead practitioner for Shakespeare festival. I write and co-create new professional touring work and am interested in bringing heritage forgotten/lost stories to life. I have a passionate belief in the power and transformative qualities of the arts and believe in Rotherham. I am available for workshops, projects and to write/direct plays. I am also artistic Director of Breakout Arts.
