Embroidered artwork depicting a field of purple wild flowers.

“A core memory of mine growing up in Rotherham is seeing the array of colours in the wildflowers along the dual carriageways throughout the town. I created this piece to highlight the beautiful colours and greenspaces that we are surrounded by. This piece signifies the importance of nature in our ever-growing and advancing world. I use free-motion embroidery to draw with stitch, using locally-sourced second-hand threads and recycled materials which may have otherwise been discarded. I most enjoy watching how single strands of coloured thread, through many hours of tedious labour, gradually create the image through layers of visible thread.”
