Thor the Guardian Troll of Thurcroft, has heeded the call from the young people of the village. They have been working with the artists Lenny and Whale, and by using art and other creative activities, the young people realised that Thurcroft needed an environmental champion, and Thor soon followed. Thor has taken up residence on the green field in the middle of the village, known as ‘the rec’.
“We worked with children from three local schools and young people from the youth club to explore and develop ideas for the work. Whilst working with young people of Thurcroft the concept of a friendly, nature loving troll emerged.
We knew we needed to make something robust and durable so the decision was made to create the troll in steel and give him a stack of stone pillows. Our four meter troll lies resting by trees in the Rec, covered in colourful, nature inspired hand-painted doodles.” Lenny and Whale.

How to spot the artwork: From Green Arbour Road, walk through the green space also called “the rec”, past the skate ramps. The artwork is on the ground at eye level in the middle of the green space.
