“I was inspired by the John Keats poem ‘On the Sea’ which explores the healing properties of the ocean and implores the reader to visit the sea to destress. As its creation provided a break from the stress of exams, it allowed me to truly understand the poem’s advice. I was also influenced by the work of David Tress to paint on a textured background, using cardboard to convey the liveliness of the sea.”
