Popular children’s author Ed Vere captured his thoughtful and courageous Lion, Leonard, from his much loved children’s book How To Be A Lion, following the tale of a gentle lion who befriends a duck and follows the two unlikely friends as they explain the value of our differences, acceptance and belonging.

The mural was supported Book Trust and painted at Clifton Park in 2021. The mural was housed on the side of the Garden Building at Clifton Park looking out to Clifton Park Museum where Rotherham’s own brave lion, Nelson, is housed.
