What is the FLUX Rotherham Festival Network?

We have 6 grants of £1500 in 2024 to award to 6 communities/groups to support creative programming and activity. In addition, festival network members will get free access to advice and information around running community events and festivals.

There would be free access to:

  • A range of related training sessions.
  • Online sessions on getting started with event management with RMBC events team.
  • 1-1 support from a dedicated member of staff.
  • Access to event equipment depending on availability.

If it is a new event, it must be creative with a focus on arts and culture - in the broadest sense. If you are seeking support for an existing festival, this funding can only be used to support creative and cultural elements. The Festival Network will prioritise support for events that reach people and places in Rotherham where engagement with arts and culture is proven to be low. Wherever possible your community-based Festival or event should have an element that is unique and relevant to the community it serves.

Funding for Rotherham Festivals and Events:

We’re looking to support groups that passionately believe in the positive impact that arts and cultural events can make in communities in Rotherham. They will become part of Rotherham Festival Network which offers financial and non-financial support to groups/organisations who want to create a new event or develop a stronger cultural offer in established community festivals.

  • You can apply as a group or organisation, and you must have a bank account in the name of the group. We will not make payments to individuals.
  • The group must be based in Rotherham and plan to deliver an event within the borough.
  • The people involved must either have the skills needed to deliver your vision for the event,
  • or have the potential to develop the skills needed with support from FLUX Rotherham.
  • Projects must benefit people living in Rotherham.
  • Your project must involve and have support from the people that your work or activities aim to benefit.
  • Your event must have the potential to produce work or activities that are of high-quality and are relevant to the communities you aim to benefit.
  • Your project must be well-planned and budgeted
  • You must generally be able to deliver your project, including all evaluation and reporting, by November 2024.

Not Eligible:

  • Applicants who do not live in and/or run a group in Rotherham.
  • Events which are outside of Rotherham.
  • Projects that do not involve communities in the design and or delivery of the proposed activities.
  • Any activity outside of the law, or anything that encourages ethnic, religious, or commercial disharmony.
