FLUX Rotherham and Canklow Woods Primary School are thrilled to announce Peachzz as the selected artist for a new mural commission at Canklow Pavilion. This exciting project, set against the backdrop of Canklow’s lush green spaces and historic woodlands, aims to inspire local children and celebrate the natural environment.
Canklow, a vibrant neighborhood within Rotherham's Boston Castle Ward, is known for its picturesque views, including the renowned Canklow Woods. The mural project seeks to engage young people from the community, exploring the local natural environment, the healing and restorative power of nature and encouraging care for the environment around us. Initial consultations with local children at the Primary School have already provided a wealth of creative ideas, which Peachzz will incorporate into her designs.Â
Peachzz, a renowned international mural artist with over a decade of experience, brings a unique blend of expressive realism and a bold colour palette to her work. Her journey into street art began in the UK's industrial heartlands, where she transformed neglected urban spaces with vivid depictions of nature and life. Her extensive portfolio spans continents, with murals created in Europe, the USA, Colombia, and Mexico. Peachzz has collaborated with notable organizations such as UPS, NME, ITV, The British Council, Avanti West Coast, and The Wildlife Trust. Recently, she was honored with the Best Street Art award by Street Art Cities in June 2024.Â
As part of this commission, there will be two days of visual art workshops with local children and young people during the summer holidays of 2024. These workshops will be integral to the creation of two of the mural's panels, directly involving the community in the artistic process. The final installation will feature eight panels affixed to Canklow Pavilion, with two panels painted during the workshops.Â
