Cabinets of Curiosity

Cabinets of Curiosity

A brand new exhibition showcasing a creative, collective response to the Clifton Park Museum collection

Six Rotherham-based artists: Kevan Cadman, Neath Champion-Shorr (she/her), Ken Horne, Tair Rafiq, Uzma Rani and Teresa Sayner have been working with Sheffield-based artist Paul Evans to develop a creative, collective response to the Clifton Park Museum collection. ‘Cabinets of Curiosity’ draws out unexpected connections between natural and man-made objects and examines how ideas of ‘heritage’ might interweave with environmental concerns and contemporary responses to nature.

Invited through ROAR (Rotherham Open Arts Renaissance), each artist has been given a micro-commission and attended a number of 'idea-jams' at Clifton Park Museum and archives. The artists have developed an eclectic and imaginative range of responses including choreography, filmmaking, book making, painting, sculpture and writing. We invite the viewer to exercise their curiosity and make their own creative connections between the objects in the exhibition and those on display elsewhere in the museum.
